Energy Saving with Pools

1. Principle – Isolation „LD – Winterpool“

The energy-saving pool (winter pool) is compared with the standard pools with an additional 10 cm round - fitted insulation (thus a total of 20 cm). This will reduce heatloss significantlyIn addition, the energy-saving pool receives a 15 - 20 cm thick,removable insulation cover in partat any time easily and quickly removable and re-mountable.

This results in a lower energy requirement than for a indoor-pool of comparable size.

The advantage that a classic indoor pool has over an outdoor pool is that it is usable in the winter. To be able to swim outdoors in winter, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Isolation: Isolation thickness in the above mentioned (see LD-POOL winter insulation)
  • Winter cover: pool cover with min. 15 cm high floating isolation (see LD-winter pool cover)

Under these circumstances to operate an outdoor pool and at the lowest heating costs in summer and winter is possible.

2. Heating

Swimming pool heating can be through an existing heating system, an electrical heating system, with solar collectors or via other alternative energy supply systems. Please refer to Heating for more information.
